Tinkering: Vacuum Head Wheel

The vacuum cleaner in my flat lost one of the wheels on its cleaning head, causing it to become detached during use. Taking it apart, I figured it would be easy enough to just design and print a new wheel that snaps onto the post.

The wheel would need to be in two parts, and snap around the center post, with the small channel locking it in place. I sat down with a pair of calipers for 20-30min and drafted up a quick solution in Fusion 360.

It took two iterations to get the sizing right, however with a 30 minute print time it took little effort to get the stupid thing fixed. The mechanical tolerances are tight enough that it takes significant force to pull the two apart—I don’t see it coming undone unless one of my flatmates takes it extreme off-road vacuuming.
